Antes da criação do Viagra e de outros estimulantes sexuais farmacológicos, existem plantas com propriedades estimulantes capazes de contribuir para a melhora do bem-estar físico e, consequentemente, na disposição para o sexo. A mistura das folhas e das raízes dessas plantas, infusionadas e ingeridas diariamente em forma de garrafadas, atuam como fitoterápicos que prometem o prolongamento da vida sexual dos homens idosos. A garrafada é expressão da curanderia indígena, cujo poder não se limita, apenas, à potencialização do vigor sexual. Na cidade de Parintins, no estado do Amazonas, os idosos acreditam que a garrafada se constitui, também, enquanto um elixir de cura capaz de imunizá-los contra os perigos do sexo, como as Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (ISTs). Este trabalho discute acerca do poder da garrafada na vida sexual dos homens idosos de Parintins com foco na fenomenologia do seu poder de cura contra a mulher libertina que se submete ao ato sexual com um idoso. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de natureza bibliográfica e de campo realizada na cidade de Parintins com homens idosos. Conclui-se que a manutenção da vida sexual dos idosos dessa cidade está inscrita dentro de um sistema simbólico de práticas relacionadas ao poder sobrenatural da curanderia indígena que reafirma a masculinidade patriarcal.The concern with sexual vigour has always prompted the search for artifices to enhance the disposition for sex. Before the creation of Viagra and other pharmacological sexual stimulants, there were plants with stimulant properties capable of contributing to an improvement in physical well-being and, consequently, in the disposition for sex. The mixture of the leaves and roots of these plants infused and ingested daily in the form of a "garrafada", act as herbal medicines that promise to extend the sexual life of elderly men. The "garrafada is an expression of indigenous curanderia, whose power is not limited only to the enhancement of sexual vigour. In the city of Parintins, in the state of Amazonas, the elderly believe that the "garrafada" is also a healing elixir capable of immunizing them against the dangers of sex, such as Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). This paper discusses the power of the "garrafada in the sexual life of the elderly men of Parintins, focusing on the phenomenology of its healing power against the libertine woman who submits herself to sexual intercourse with an elderly man. This is a qualitative, bibliographical, and field research carried out in the city of Parintins with elderly men.
