Abstract(s)
The performing arts, particularly in the case of musical theater, are, par excellence, a support and vehicle for transmitting multiple artistic languages in a close collaborative and transdisciplinary dialogue, where body, word, image and sound interconnect to give rise to artistic work in the field. expanded, with hybrid characteristics. This research work focuses on the analysis of the musical theater play Ezequiel (2021), by Norberto Cruz, a show that was born in the Madeira Mandolin Association, founded in 2000, and which, from 2019, started producing shows, through collaborative work between individuals and different institutions, using languages that include multimedia technologies (with a certain interactivity), in the visual field of the scene and in the virtual construction of the multiple spaces that make up the narrative of the works presented. Ezequiel (2021) is an example of a theater-technology show (Pimenta, 2022), which brings together different disciplines and artistic areas on stage, with a special focus on theater as an expanded field, through the use of interactive multimedia technologies – projection of images with capacity of interactivity by the characters, surround sound, resulting in a hybrid artistic work with (somewhat) immersive characteristics, both for its direct participants (actors, dancers and musicians), and for the public.
