Monitorização e análise pessoal dos estudantes utilizando smartphones

This thesis describes the research conducted by integrating a data collection system on students’ smartphones to detect their behavioral changes, in order to use it as a tool to infer their state of mind. In recent years, education has been increasingly adapting to technological advances and the needs of students who increasingly use technology and technological resources. Therefore, there was a great interest in measuring the state of mind of students through their behavior, in order to help them get a better academic performance. During the investigation, a two-stage experimental study was performed, where the system developed was installed in smartphones of participants, to determine their behavior. The first phase of the study aimed at verifying the students' behavioral changes in stressed periods, by collecting usage data of the device and the state of mind of students. The second phase of the study also was to verify behavioral changes of students but in this case during periods with less stress. However, the findings of this exploratory approach proved to be limited to fully understand the behavioral changes of the students between the more stressed and quieter periods.
