Abstract(s)
O monumento comemorativo tem a capacidade de repensar e situar a memória, sendo esta uma operação de transformação dialética entre escultura e cidadão que tem lugar no espaço público. O novo monumento comemorativo encontra na sua própria negação (contramonumento) o paradigma do seu ressurgimento, questionando o agora nas premissas do passado, encontrando-se mais próximo, participativo e crítico. Desta forma, as fundações clássicas e alegóricas do monumento tradicional estão extintas.
The commemorative monument allows for the rethinking and situating of memory, in a process of dialectic transformation between sculpture and citizen taking place in the public space. The new commemorative monument finds in its own negation (counter monument) the paradigm for its revival, questioning the present through the premises of the past, as well as more involved and critical. Thus, the classical and allegorical foundations of the traditional monument are extinct.
