O documentário O Presidente Improvável (Franca, 2022) conta-nos como o
cientista social Fernando Henrique Cardoso chegou ao poder. Um dos presidentes
brasileiros que foi reeleito e que equilibrou a economia nacional com o Plano Real. Seu
legado se mistura ao da democracia brasileira, estando presente nos principais eventos
que derrubaram a ditadura militar. Com depoimentos de grandes pensadores, amigos de
vida e amigos políticos de expressão internacional, o documentário mostra como um
intelectual ascendeu ao poder de forma não intencional. Com direção de Belisário Franca
é uma obra que nos dá a dimensão da trajetória de um grande estadista, que se divide entre
seguir a carreira acadêmica ou a política, ou as duas ao mesmo tempo, entre viver no
exílio ou voltar para ajudar na redemocratização do país. Analiso, neste texto, o percurso
político de FHC.
The documentary O Presidente Improvável (Franca, 2022) tells us how the social scientist Fernando Henrique Cardoso came to power. One of the Brazilian presidents who was re-elected and who balanced the national economy with the Real Plan. His legacy is mixed with that of Brazilian democracy, being present at the main events that overthrew the military dictatorship. With testimonials from great thinkers, lifelong friends and political friends of international expression, the documentary shows how an intellectual rose to power unintentionally. The documentary directed by Belisário Franca is a work that gives us the dimension of the trajectory of a great statesman, who divides between following an academic career or politics, or both at the same time, between living in exile or returning to help in the redemocratization of the country. In this text, I analyse the path and the work of FHC.
