| dc.description.abstract | O glossário comparativo da terminologia açucareira actual no Atlântico, incluindo a terminologia ibero-americana, dado que apresenta materiais linguísticos das ilhas Canárias e referências à terminologia de outras áreas geográficas de língua espanhola, mostra-nos o papel central da ilha da Madeira como epicentro na difusão da cultura açucareira no Atlântico. Os madeirenses, especialistas na produção açucareira, participaram activamente na transplantação da terminologia e da tecnologia desta actividade económica para as novas áreas açucareiras do Atlântico: Canárias, Cabo Verde, S. Tomé e Príncipe e Brasil. E indirectamente, através das ilhas Canárias, os termos e as técnicas açucareiras chegaram aos países da América Latina de língua espanhola, como Cuba, México, Colômbia, Venezuela e Argentina. Ao contrário da produção açucareira industrializada, cuja terminologia e tecnologia não apresentam qualquer interesse linguístico-cultural, a terminologia actual da produção açucareira tradicional, conservada nos países pobres e nas regiões mais isoladas que estudámos, apresenta muitos termos do antigo fabrico de açúcar de cana madeirense, nomeadamente trapiche, rapadura, mestre de açúcar, forma de açúcar e açúcar mascavado, que interessa recolher e salvaguardar. Daí o interesse do glossário comparativo da terminologia açucareira actual no Atlântico, o registo deste património linguístico-cultural que nos mostra o percurso e a variação dos termos e das técnicas da produção açucareira nos três continentes: Europa, África e América. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The comparative vocabulary of the actual sugar cane terminology in the Atlantic, including the ibero-americane terminology, once that it presents linguistic data from Canarias islands and references to the terminology of other geographical areas of Spanish language, that shows us the central paper of Madeira island as epicenter in the diffusion of the sugar cane culture in the Atlantic. The maderian people, specialized in the sugar cane production, participated actively in the transplantation of the terminology and technology of this economic activity to the new sugar cane areas in the Atlantic: Canarias, Cap Vert, S. Tomé and Principe and Brazil. And indirectly, through the Canarias islands, the sugar cane terms and techniques arrived to the Latin American countries of spanish language, as Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina. In opposition of the industrialized sugar cane production, which terminology and technology presents none linguistic and cultural interest, the actual terminology of the traditional sugar cane production, conserved in the poor countries and in the most isolated regions that we studied, presents a lot of terms from the old sugar cane maderian production, as trapiche, rapadura, mestre de açúcar, forma de açúcar e açúcar mascavado, that is very important to collect and save. That’s why the interest of this comparative vocabulary of the actual sugar cane terminology in the Atlantic, the registration of this linguistic and cultural patrimony that shows us the path and the variation of the terms and techniques of the sugar cane culture in the three continents: Europe, Africa and America. | pt_PT |
