Abstract(s)
RPEN).
Literature is a matter of interest for emotional development, where parents play a crucial role throughout development. The main numbers are from Parental Meta-emotion, which refers to the emotions and thoughts that parents have about the emotions of their children. The focus of interest in this research is the impact that meta-emotion can have on Functional Autonomy, when individuals are intellectually disabled. Understanding Functional Autonomy, the ability of an individual to become more functional and instrumental in the daily life. This mode is intended to identify the parents' attitude towards the negative emotions of dependent adult children, making them autonomous in daily life. Using a quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional methodology, with a sample of 50 participants, parents of adult individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ages ≥ 18 years, living with parents and attending a CAO). An Adaptive Behavior Scale and a Portuguese version of the CCNES (RPEN) were used. The indicators are pointed out so that the perception of the reactions of the parents is related to the functional subordination of dependent adult children, especially in the domains of Personality, Responsibility and Socialization.
