As viagens de Felício e Felizarda, primeiro ao Pólo Norte, depois ao Brasil, são duas propostas
pedagógicas da autoria de Ana de Castro Osório, pensadas para o ensino nas escolas no primeiro
quartel do Séc. XX, que combinam o didactismo com o prazer da leitura.
O motivo da viagem constitui o nó estruturante de cada um dos relatos, cujos traços configuradores
revelam características próprias da literatura do género, como sejam a deslocação no espaço, o olhar
do observador sobre o espaço circundante, ou o encontro com o Outro. Chegam, assim, por esta via,
aos pequenos leitores lições de História e de Geografia, a maior parte delas protagonizadas pelos
bonifrates, Felício e Felizarda. E é pela vertente da ficcionalização e pelos caminhos que abrem à
imaginação que as Viagens Aventurosas de Felício e Felizarda ao Pólo Norte e as Viagens
Aventurosas de Felício e Felizarda ao Brasil transpõem os limites do compêndio de uso escolar e
penetram no universo da literatura infantil.
The travels of Felício and Felizarda, first to the North Pole, then to Brazil, are two pedagogical proposals by Ana de Castro Osório which combine didacticism with the pleasure of reading and which were intended to be taught at schools during the first quarter of the 20th Century. The travel motif provides the core structure in each of the stories, the configuring traits of which reveal characteristics that are proper to this genre, such as movement in space, the beholding look of the observer in relation to what surrounds him/her, or the encounter with the Other. Through this medium, young readers receive lessons in History and Geography, the majority of which as experienced by the puppets Felício and Felizarda. And it is through fictionalisation and how this spurs the imagination that the Viagens Aventurosas de Felício e Felizarda ao Pólo Norte and the Viagens Aventurosas de Felício e Felizarda ao Brasil go beyond the limits of a schoolbook into the realm of Children’s Literature.
