Abstract(s)
Estes problemas relacionados
Madeira island, identically to other European regions, has been suffering more and more with the traffic congestion increase over time. In large urban areas, the agglomeration of people and vehicles has created chaotic traffic situations, essentially due to urban planning that was unable to fulfill the populations mobility requirements. These problems related to urban mobility have led governments to adopt new measures to minimize the impact of vehicles in circulation on regional roads. Although many improvements have been made, drivers often experience unexpected situations as they drive, such as closed roads due to construction, sporting or religious events occurring in cities, forcing them to quickly decide alternate routes to reach their destinations in time. The presented solution aims to improve mobility inside and outside of the cities, helping citizens to optimize their time management, thus reducing daily stress. To achieve this, the platform will centralize all the existing information about traffic conditions, also focusing on all events that occur and that require some road closure. On the other hand, all steep or narrow roads will be displayed in the application. Thereby, this data will be presented in advance, allowing drivers to avoid roads that could cause them stress. The developed platform collects and filters this data in the background, enabling, through a mobile application, access to it in a way that is detailed and easy-to-see. It also allows showing this information in real-time, or in advance, when possible, by sending notifications.
