Este artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre a memória urbana a partir das
representações cinematográficas, com foco na cidade de São Paulo retratada no filme São
Paulo, Sociedade Anônima (1965), de Luís Sérgio Person. A pesquisa investiga como as
imagens em movimento vão além da função documental, assumindo um papel ativo na
construção de sentidos e afetos sobre a cidade. Através da análise da narrativa visual e
simbólica do filme, discutem-se os modos pelos quais o cinema contribui para a formação
da memória coletiva, revelando camadas sociais, históricas e subjetivas do espaço urbano.
A cidade, neste contexto, deixa de ser pano de fundo e assume o papel de personagem,
configurando-se como um organismo vivo em constante transformação.
This article proposes a reflection on urban memory based on cinematographic representations, focusing on the city of São Paulo as portrayed in the film São Paulo, Sociedade Anônima (1965), by Luís Sérgio Person. The research investigates how moving images go beyond the documentary function, assuming an active role in the construction of meanings and affections about the city. Through the analysis of the visual and symbolic narrative of the film, the ways in which cinema contributes to the formation of collective memory are discussed, revealing social, historical and subjective layers of the urban space. The city, in this context, ceases to be a backdrop and assumes the role of a character, configuring itself as a living organism in constant transformation.
