Abstract(s)
Madeira for its geographical location favors the economy with the qualities existing in the climate and soils, attributes that make this region a pleasant place mainly for the tourist sector. In this context, and in order to mitigate the effects of the constraints to which the Region is subject, it enjoys financial support from the Europe, since it is considered as an OR because of its small size, importance, climate, insularity and economic dependence on some products, conditions that eventually interfere in their development. This dissertation characterizes the construction sector in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, taking into account the importance of its main indicators, as well as the behavior and impacts that come from their performance. To this end, we opted for a methodology subdivided into two strands, one associated with bibliographic research, which also includes the collection of statistical data related to the construction sector and, another in which the research is directed to the reality lived in this sector, a survey of several companies operating in Madeira was used to analyse and compare the two strands of research. Based on the bibliographical research and case studies, it was found that the competitiveness between companies in the sector is associated with the quality and distinction of the same in relation to competition, factors motivated by the market where they exercise the activity, that have an impact on their evolution, as well as on the market itself.
