Actualmente, em Portugal, a escolaridade obrigatória é de 12 anos, mas nem
sempre foi assim. As mudanças políticas fizeram com que a população tivesse níveis
de escolaridade diferentes. Muitos idosos com mais de 70 anos não tiveram acesso
a qualquer educação escolar. São analfabetos que, embora não sendo escolarizados,
têm uma sabedoria linguística impar. Os seus conhecimentos técnicos constituem um
vasto património linguístico que se extinguirá progressivamente, se não for conser vado. Pretende-se fazer uma demonstração que comprove isso mesmo, através de um
levantamento lexical (relacionado com o arado, o carro de bois e o linho) testado com
estudantes universitários.

Their expertise is a vast linguistic heritage that gradually extinguished, if not conserved. It is intended to demonstrate that proves just that, through a survey lexical (plowshare, bullock cart and linen) tested with university students.
