Este texto investiga as origens do found footage, enquadra os seus desígnios e analisa os principais autores e obras que tenham contribuído para a exploração e evolução desta prática artística em novas narrativas e reflexões cinematográficas. Através da apropriação e reinterpretação de um arquivo imagético já existente, muitos artistas trouxeram novas perspectivas à arte cinematográfica, regenerando-a, inovando-a e contribuindo, não apenas para a expansão das potencialidades expressivas e reflexivas do cinema, como também para a salvaguarda e recuperação de toda uma memória cinematográfica.
This paper investigates the origins of found footage, its designs and analyzes the main authors and works that have contributed to the exploration and evolution of this artistic practice in new cinematic narratives. Through the appropriation and reinterpretation of an existing image’s archive, many artists have brought new perspectives to the cinematographic art, regenerating it, innovating it and contributing, not only to the expansion of expressive and reflective potential of cinema, but also for the protection and recovery of an entire film memory.
