Esta investigação centra a sua atenção na condição da Mulher na Literatura
Contemporânea, com incidência em duas autoras que, através de algumas das suas
protagonistas, se destacaram nessa temática: Jane Austen (1775-1817) e Helena Marques
(1935-2020). Através de um olhar comparatista sobre Elizabeth, em Orgulho e
Preconceito, e Raquel, em O Último Cais, procuraremos comprovar a existência de ideais
feministas nas suas obras, considerados arrojados para a época, em particular, o século
XVIII-XIX e o Estado Novo. Este discurso é suportado pela análise e caracterização das
personagens femininas, mulheres obstinadas e independentes, bem como pelo seu percurso
ao longo das respetivas obras.
Assim, o principal propósito desta investigação assenta, a partir de um olhar
comparatistas, na análise de figurações da emancipação da mulher através do
comportamento e da trajetória das entidades ficcionais femininas, considerando os ideais
das autoras e da época em que viveram, para assim analisar eventuais pontos de contato
e/ou discrepâncias entre elas.
This investigation examines the condition of women in contemporary literature, focusing on two authors whose protagonists stand out in this thematic realm: Jane Austen (1775-1817) and Helena Marques (1935-2020). Through a comparative analysis of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and Raquel in O Último Cais the study seeks to identify feminist ideals in their works - ideals that were considered bold for their respective times, namely the 18th-19th centuries and the ‘Estado Novo’ period. This argument is supported by the analysis and characterization of strong, independent female figures, as well as by their narrative trajectories. The main aim of this research is to explore, from a comparative perspective, representations of women's emancipation through the behavior and development of fictional female characters, while considering the authors' ideologies and historical contexts, to highlight potential points of convergence and/or divergence between them.
