Abstract(s)
Since the beginning of time, man has focused on the creation and perfection of strategies to ensure efficient communication. Currently, long distance communications, as well as access to several services is possible through telecommunications networks. Such networks are essentially maintained by specialized organizations and include 3 main segments: the core, access and client networks. The access networks connect clients to the services provided by the organizations; therefore, they must ensure the best communication possible. In the last few years, governments, as well as organizations from several countries have been adopting wide scale implementations of fiber optics in their access networks, given its high broadband capabilities. However, access networks over fiber optics can become extremely complex, specifically regarding the physical structure of their concrete implementation. That complexity forces the adoption of means, capable of easing the management and, consequentially, the operation over such networks. Several software tools in the market are capable of improving the efficiency of management tasks for these networks, but their increased complexity, can negatively affect such tasks, making them lengthier and increasingly susceptible to flaws. This dissertation focuses on the development of a software solution capable of addressing the issues faced by a local organization on managing access optical networks. Such solution must provide a higher level of efficiency as opposed to the current solution, adopted by the organization. The solution should also overcome the complexity limitations of current tools, ensuring a faster management, focused on essential aspects.
