Abstract(s)
envolvimento físico e intensidades moderadas a vigorosas. Verificou-se uma
correlação negativa entre idades avançadas e intensidades elevadas. A
This internship report is part of the Master's program in Physical Activity and Sport at the University of Madeira. The main objectives were to reflect on the experience of implementing a community-based physical activity program to increase the number of Walking Football practitioners in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and to study the impact of this modality on adults and older individuals of both genders, concerning internal load, external load, and physical performance variables over a Walking Football sports season. Throughout this report, we present the promotional activities for the modality, carried out through practical workshops and theoretical training, as well as the research component developed. This work was complemented by the preparation of a best practices manual and the organization of Walking Football meetings for everyone. Regarding the research, the study sample consisted of 87 participants, 50 males and 35 females, aged between 50 and 73 years. Participation was voluntary, and data were collected during tournaments organized in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The intensity of physical activity was assessed over three consecutive 20-minute games using an accelerometer (Actigraph). Heart rate was monitored using a heart rate monitor (Polar H10). Statistical procedures included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, T-Student tests, and Mann-Whitney U tests. The research results showed that Walking Football promotes high cardiovascular efforts, especially in men, with greater physical involvement and moderate to vigorous intensities. A negative correlation was observed between older ages and high intensities. The modality proved effective in improving physical fitness and cardiovascular health. This internship provided the development of technical, interpersonal, and scientific skills in sports, communication, planning, and research, highlighting the promotion of physical activity in older adults and the management of sports projects.
