Based on a set of news in the local newspaper ‘Commarca de Arganil’, a brief analysis LV PDGH RQ WKH LPSDFW RI 3QHXPRQLF LQ WKH GDLO\ OLIHbFRQWH[WbRI WKH 3RUWXJXHVH VRFL ety, in particular in terms of food-related topics associated with the subsistence crisis. ҀH ZRUOG ZDU RI SURIRXQGO\ FKDQJHG VXSSOLHV DQG DFFHVV WR IRRG ҀH press articles addressed this food shortage; the general increase of the price of food; rationing; hoardings and so many other aspects that shaped the country’s physiog nomy, by then struggling to assert in terms of economic and social stability. Despite the overwhelming scenario of the country plunged in the disease, the news about the war overlapped those of the epidemic, relegating it to a secondary level in the press highlights.
