| dc.description.abstract | O recurso à emigração em busca de uma vida melhor é um conceito inerente ao ADN dos ilhéus do Arquipélago da Madeira, localizado num ponto geográfico de suma importância no panorama mundial da navegação marítima e tendo sido fustigado, ao longo dos tempos, por episódios de pilhagens, epidemias e pragas agrícolas. Sendo composto por 8 ilhas, a Nona Ilha assume-se como um território imaterial constituído pelos imensos emigrantes madeirenses, e seus descendentes, espalhados pelo mundo fora. É dessa realidade que surge a importância do seu estudo e que justifica a designação atribuída ao projeto do Centro de Estudos de História do Atlântico (CEHA), visando preservar e resgatar a memória autobiográfica de madeirenses que emigraram, neste caso, para a França e o Reino Unido. Neste sentido, esta dissertação de mestrado, integrada no Projeto Nona Ilha, que, por sua vez, se enquadra num estudo mais vasto intitulado “Memória das Gentes que fazem a História da Madeira”, tem o propósito de recolher relatos de vida de 24 emigrantes de diferentes faixas etárias, representativos de gerações distintas, com raízes madeirenses, que partiram tendo como destinos a França e o Reino Unido. É através dos vários relatos de memória que se empreende uma reconstituição o mais fiel possível da realidade sociocultural e linguística de outrora, quer da Madeira quer dos países de destino. A recolha e o estudo das histórias de vida baseadas na oralidade é vital, pois, se não forem registadas enquanto os informantes forem vivos e mantiverem a lucidez do passado, perder-se-á o seu legado para sempre. Os materiais socioculturais e linguísticos recolhidos nas entrevistas e a análise qualitativa das temáticas do quotidiano permitem aferir a transmissão e conservação da herança ou legado histórico da Madeira levado pelos emigrantes e recebido pelos lusodescendentes, através da partilha de vivências, tradições e valores regionais, sobretudo do Português falado no Arquipélago da Madeira, assim como as interferências das línguas dos países de destino, neste caso, do Inglês e do Francês. A par das interferências linguísticas, ocorre também a mistura de culturas, principalmente de elementos gastronómicos. | dc.description.abstract | Located in a geographical point of great importance in the world panorama of maritime navigation and having been injured by episodes of epidemics and plagues throughout the time, the emigration in pursuit of a better life is an inherent concept in the DNA of the Madeira Archipelago’s islanders. Once the Madeira Archipelago is composed by 8 islands, the ninth island is an immaterial territory made up of immense Madeira emigrants, and their descendants, spread throughout the world. It is from this reality that the importance of its study arises and that justifies the designation attributed to the project of the Centro de Estudos de História do Atlântico (CEHA). The Nona Ilha Project of CEHA aims to preserve and rescue the autobiographical memory of Madeirans who emigrated to France and United Kingdom. Integrated in the Nona Ilha Project, "Memory of the people who make the History of Madeira", this master’s thesis aims to collect life reports of 24 Madeiran emigrants from different age groups, representing different generations of people who emigrated to France and United Kingdom. It is through the various reports of the autobiographical memory that a reconstruction is carried out as faithful as possible of the sociocultural and linguistic reality of the past times, both in Madeira and in the host countries. The study of this orality-based culture is vital, since if it is not recorded while the informants are alive and maintain the lucidity of the past, their legacy will be lost forever. The sociocultural and linguistic materials collected during the interviews and their qualitative analysis of the daily themes allow us to measure the transmission and conservation of the heritage or historical legacy of Madeira carried by the emigrants and received by the Lusodescendants through the sharing of experiences, traditions and values of the region, specially the spoken Portuguese in the Madeira Archipelago, as well as the interferences of the languages of the destination countries, in this case English and French. In addition to linguistic interferences, there is also a mixture of cultures, mainly gastronomic. Hence the sociocultural and linguistic focus on the roots and destinations of Madeira's emigration to France and United Kingdom. | pt_PT |
