Abstract(s)
Desta
The present document addresses the relationship between Museums and Education, highlighting the important role of the cultural mediator in the current museological reality. It reflects on the actions and initiatives that promote a greater dialogue between Museology and Education which, in addition to presenting the Museum's perspective as a genuinely educational space, favours the process of development and historical conscience in cultural understanding. This growing educational character in the cultural area is evident in the creation of educational areas and services in Museums, in the increase of educational actions in cultural institutions that foster the expansion of academic production and scientific collection, resulting on the increment of the number of qualified professionals. In this way, we demonstrate the role of this service through cultural mediation as an instrument to validate its social utility, assuming different formats, whether in preservation, research and communication to its public. Thus, the Museum can become a space for education and learning, in as much as its main objective becomes the socialization of knowledge about history and of the preserved memories, through a contribution that requalifies the understanding of the individual and which presents different perspectives on cultural heritage. All of these actions will assist in the process of developing the cultural identity of the human being in the creation of a notion of temporality and of a historical conscience.
