| dc.description.abstract | Na literatura é notório um aumento de estudos científicos que atestam os benefícios da relação entre o homem e os animais domésticos. Colocou-se a hipótese das crianças com animais terem menos ansiedade e mais autoestima que crianças sem animais. Foram então aplicados o STAIC e o SPPC a uma amostra de 52 crianças nas condições descritas e comparados os resultados. Não foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os dois grupos, porém, através do Questionário dos Animais foi possível concluir que os animais de estimação são potenciais fatores protetores na autoestima de crianças em idade escolar. Futuros estudos nesta linha de investigação poderão contribuir para o desenvolvimento de novas ferramentas na Psicologia da Educação e na terapia assistida com animais. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | In literature there's been a significant increase of scientific studies that testify the benefits of the relationship between humans and domestic animals. It was suggested that children with pets were less anxious and had more self-esteem than children without animals. It was then applied the STAIC and the SPPC tests to a sample of 52 children in the described conditions and the results were compared. There weren't any significant differences found between the two groups, however, through the Animal Questionnaire it was possible to conclude that domestic animals could represent a potential protective factor in the development of young children's self-esteem. Future studies in this line of investigation could contribute for the development of new tools in Educational Psychology and in animal assisted therapy. | pt_PT |
