Abstract(s)
longo deste trabalho.
This investigation arises in the area of Educational Administration, investigating the role of two leaders of different genres, in a Secondary School. The place of study was the Secondary School in Funchal. The target audience was the current and former Presidents of the Executive Council (PCE), Coordinators by Pedagogical Area and Class Directors assigned to the institution mentioned. In addition, a person was interviewed who is not affected by the institution, but who is linked to gender issues. The objective was to understand the leadership styles and what role the leader plays in the organization, checking how his attitudes and behaviors contribute to the transformation of the organization. One of the most important aspects that will be taken into account in this study is the fact that the two leaders are of different genders. The methodology used in this investigation was the Case Study and follows the qualitative paradigm, as it seeks to understand the present reality, specifically in this school. The data collection instrument used was the interview. This instrument makes it possible to collect the data closer to the subject and more precisely, thus making it possible to compare different perspectives and opinions collected among the interviewees. Through this investigation it was possible to understand that gender related to leadership is not a decisive factor in changing the dynamics and transformation of the school. In fact, there may be personal differences between genders, however, they are not decisive in exercising leadership. A successful leader must be competent and have the necessary qualifications for the position. Leadership does not change just because the gender of the leader has changed, there are several factors that influence it.
