Abstract(s)
O tema da inteligência tem suscitado vasto debate entre os especialistas, os
quais dividem as suas opiniões sobre a forma como esta funciona. Enquanto alguns acreditam
que a inteligência possui um único fator, outros acreditam que esta é composta por uma
multiplicidade destes. Defendendo este ponto, encontra-se o psicólogo americano Howard
Gardner, o qual desenvolveu a teoria das Inteligências Múltiplas. Tendo em conta esta teoria
procurou-se adaptar um instrumento à nossa população para medir as inteligências da mesma.
Assim, nesta investigação participaram 112 sujeitos, entre os 6 e os 12 anos, dos quais 61%
são do sexo masculino e 39% são do sexo feminino. Os resultados obtidos indicam que a
inteligência mais presente nos participantes é a inteligência visuo-espacial, com as raparigas e
os rapazes a apresentaram como inteligência mais elevada a corporal-cinestésica. A diferença
mais significativa entre géneros ocorre ao nível da inteligência linguístico-verbal. Estes
resultados indicam que as crianças possuem inteligências mais práticas, o que difere do
modelo tradicional de educação utilizado pela escola atual, o que poderá criar dificuldades a
alguns alunos na aquisição de conhecimentos. Estes dados confirmam a existência de todas as
inteligências propostas por Gardner, com variações de pessoa para pessoa, reforçando a
importância e necessidade de valorizar as diferentes capacidades apresentadas pelos
indivíduos.
The subject of intelligence has been raising quite the debate between the specialists, who divide their opinions on how it operates. While some believe intelligence has only one factor others believe it to possess a multiplicity of these. In this last line of thought is the American psychologist Howard Gardner, who developed the Multiple Intelligence theory. Taking this into account we tried to adapt an instrument to our population to measure their intelligences. So, in this investigation participated 112 participants, between ages 6 to 12 years old, where 61% were male and 39% were female. The participant’s ages are between 6 to 12 years old. The results indicated that the most present intelligence in the participants is visual-spatial, with girls and boys both displaying bodily-kinesthetic. The most significant difference between genders happens in the linguistic intelligence. These results indicate that children possess more practical intelligences what differs from the traditional educational model used by schools which can create difficulties to students to acquire knowledge. These data confirm that every child possesses all the multiple intelligence proposed by Gardner with some variations from person to person reinforce the importance and necessity to valorize the different capacities displayed by individuals.
