Abstract(s)
Esta investigação parte da potencial relação entre a escultura, a natureza e a juventude, relação essa que até agora não foi explorada no contexto investigativo nacional. Deste modo, é fundamental compreender como pode a escultura contribuir para o desenvolvimento do jovem como indivíduo criativo, autónomo e atento às questões culturais e ecológicas. Nesta linha de pensamento, importa não só refletir-se sobre as noções escultóricas, como também conhecer e perceber como as políticas culturais, em vigor nos últimos anos, e as iniciativas na área da gestão cultural influenciam, direta ou indiretamente, os jovens portugueses.
Estas questões constituem os alicerces do projeto exploratório EM ESQUADRIA, uma proposta prática que tem como finalidade suscitar o interesse informal pela escultura e pela arte no jovem. Esta ação, desenvolvida para jovens escuteiros madeirenses com idade entre os catorze e vinte anos, passa por uma visita à galeria Porta 33, pela elaboração de propostas escultóricas e pela exposição que contextualiza o projeto, e que depois demonstra todo o processo criativo dessas propostas.
Em suma, esta dissertação visa aprofundar conceitos como escultura, espaço, paisagem, natureza, jovens e arte, articulando a teoria (a investigação) com a prática (o projeto). Sendo a questão central, no contexto da gestão cultural, “como aproximar os jovens à arte através da natureza?”, procura-se, por meio deste projeto, dar algumas possibilidades de resposta. Com isto, tenciona-se indagar de que forma a escultura contemporânea, e arte em geral, podem contribuir para a construção da juventude, na atualidade.
This investigation is based on the potential relationship between sculpture, nature and youth, which has not been fully exploit in the Portuguese academic context, until now. Therefore, it is vital to understand how could sculpture contribute to the development of the young as a creative, autonomous individual who is concerned with cultural and ecological issues. In this line of thought, it is important not only to reflect on the sculpture concepts, but also to get to know and understand how the cultural policies, in force in the last few years, and the initiatives in the spectrum of cultural management affects, directly or indirectly, the Portuguese youth. These issues found the basis of the exploratory project EM ESQUADRIA (“Square Lashing”), an applied proposition with the purpose of raising a casual interest in sculpture and art in young people. This action, developed for Madeiran scouts with ages between fourteen and twenty, goes through a visit to the gallery Porta 33, an elaboration of sculptural proposals and an exhibition that contextualizes the project, and that showcases the entire creative process of those proposals. In short, this research seeks to deepen concepts such as sculpture, space, landscape, nature, youth and art, articulating the theory (the investigation) with the application (the project). Being that the central question, in the context of cultural management, “how to bring young people closer to art through nature?”, we try to give some answers athwart this project. With this, it is intended to examine how contemporary sculpture, and art in general, could contribute to the construction of youth, in the present-day.
