Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação de Mestrado versa sobre os mecanismos do ethos, expressos pelo caráter e autoridade de Alberto João Jardim nos textos publicados na Tribuna Livre no Jornal da Madeira entre 29 de outubro de 1974 e 29 de outubro de 1975. A secção jornalística Tribuna Livre é composta por inúmeros textos sobre diversas temáticas relacionadas com a Autonomia Política da Região Autónoma da Madeira entre 1974 e 1975, mas não só, de maneira que Alberto João Jardim discorre sobre questões económicas, autonómicas e políticas da atualidade. Apresenta com legitimidade e pertinência, ao mesmo tempo, soluções e reflexões acerca destas temáticas com o propósito de promover uma inversão de acontecimentos, impulsionando um desenvolvimento positivo para a região. Note-se que o tom apelativo que o orador usa, dirigindo-se aos leitores do Jornal da Madeira, constitui o núcleo fundamental desta investigação, em particular a análise retórica da persuasão e dos seus fins. Por vezes, com forte sentido persuasivo, consideramos relevante para este trabalho interpretar e contextualizar a simbiose do ethos com a temática regional. Por conseguinte, esta investigação contém uma análise retórico-discursiva do ethos de Alberto João Jardim nos textos selecionados, de modo a apurar quais as técnicas retóricas utilizadas na construção dos discursos. Notamos um ethos sincero, exigente e autoritário nos discursos, pois Alberto João Jardim, com a sua capacidade persuasiva, conseguiu atingir a sua finalidade através da exposição de todas as suas análises, sugestões e visões acerca da situação em que o Arquipélago da Madeira se encontrava em 1974 e perspetivou um futuro promissor para o mesmo.
The present master dissertation addresses the ethos mechanisms, expressed by the character and authority of Alberto João Jardim in the published texts of Tribuna Livre in Jornal da Madeira between 29th October 1974 and 29th October 1975. The journalistic section Tribuna Livre is composed of innumerable texts about various themes related to the Politic Authonomy of Authonomous Region of Madeira between 1974 and 1975, also discusses current economic, authonomic and political issues. Alberto João Jardim presents, with legitimacy and relevance, solutions and reflections about these topics with the purpose of promoting a change of events, encouraging a positive development for the region. Note that the appealing tone used by the lecture, addressing the readers of Jornal da Madeira, represents the core of this investigation, particularly the rhetorical analysis of the persuasion and its purpose. It was considered relevant in the context of this dissertation, to contextualize and interpret the ethos symbiosis with the regional topics. Therefore, this investigation includes a rhetoric-discursive analysis of the Alberto João Jardim’s ethos in the selected texts, in order to discover the rhetorical techniques used in the discourse construction. A sincere, demanding and authoritarian ethos was noted because Alberto João Jardim, with his persuasive ability, managed to fulfill his purpose by exposing all his analysis, suggestions and visions about the situation in the Madeira Archipelago in 1974 and has envisioned a promising future for it.
