Abstract(s)
Portugal, situadas no Funchal.
The constant evolution of technology has made it possible to use smaller image sensors in the most varied areas, from smartphones to the analysis and selection of different industrial objects. The project of a CMOS image sensor includes two fundamental phases: the design and the characterization of the device. Sensors are designed to match a particular set of characteristics, chosen by a client or based on current industrial needs. The characterization is the process that confirms if all characteristics are in agreement with the intended objectives. Thus, the characterization process plays a significant role, as it must be as accurate as possible, requiring a standard procedure for the characterization of the image sensor. In this work, we have explored and calculated the parameters needed for the complete characterization of an image sensor using the standard EMVA 1288. Thus, both the ADC and light source characterization were performed, and all the necessary measurements were made for the characterization of the ORION 2K sensor, namely measurements with different light intensities, in total absence of light and also for different exposure times. This sensor was analysed in both possible configurations: with a small and with a large pixel. It was possible to determine all the values of the parameters defined by the EMVA 1288 standard, as it was intended. For this work, we used the facilities of ams Portugal, located in Funchal. The company provided all the necessary material to proceed with the ORION 2K image sensor characterization and also provided the required proprietary software, needed for this work.
