O presente relatório de estágio insere-se no âmbito do Mestrado em Gestão Hoteleira da Uni
versidade da Madeira e foi desenvolvido com base na experiência profissional adquirida no departa
mento de Recursos Humanos do grupo hoteleiro The Views. Tendo como tema central o Burnout no
setor hoteleiro, este trabalho tem como objetivo principal a formulação de uma Política de Saúde Mental
que contribua para a prevenção e mitigação deste fenómeno entre os colaboradores da unidade hoteleira.
A investigação adotou uma abordagem quantitativa, utilizando como instrumento o questionário Mas
lach Burnout Inventory (MBI), aplicado a 65 colaboradores. Os resultados revelaram níveis ligeiros a
moderados de Burnout, com maior incidência na dimensão da exaustão emocional. Verificou-se ainda
uma associação estatisticamente significativa entre o género feminino e a presença de Burnout. Com
base nestes dados, foi proposta uma Política organizacional de Saúde Mental, com foco na promoção
do bem-estar psicológico, prevenção de riscos psicossociais e desenvolvimento de práticas sustentáveis
de gestão de pessoas. Este relatório visa, assim, não só contribuir para a melhoria da qualidade de vida
dos colaboradores, mas também para a eficácia organizacional no setor hoteleiro.
This internship report was developed within the scope of the Master's Degree in Hotel Manage ment at the University of Madeira and is based on the professional experience acquired in the Human Resources department of the Hotel Group The Views. Focusing on the issue of Burnout in the hospitality sector, the main objective of this work is to propose a mental health policy aimed at preventing and mitigating this phenomenon among hotel employees. The research followed a quantitative approach, using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire, which was administered to 65 employees. The results revealed mild to moderate levels of Burnout, with emotional exhaustion being the most affected dimension. A statistically significant association was also found between the female gender and the presence of Burnout symptoms. Based on the data collected, an organizational mental health policy was proposed, focusing on the promotion of psychological well-being, prevention of psychosocial risks, and the development of sustainable human resources practices. This report seeks to contribute not only to improving employees’ quality of life but also to enhancing organizational effectiveness in the hospi tality industry.
