Abstract(s)
promovendo resiliência familiar e bom funcionamento familiar.
Estes resultados revelam
No
The characterization of families supported by the early intervention service in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) is important to understand the weaknesses of families who have children with special educational needs in their care, supported by the Specialized Educational Resources Center for Early Childhood Intervention (CREE IPI). This study aims to contribute information that allows us to better understand the psychological state of these families. Family resilience, parental burnout and family functioning are prominent concepts that impact family relationships, providing each family member with coping strategies that prove effective in dealing with the exercise of parenting and other family problems. Therefore, it is necessary to provide families supported by CREE IPI with tools that help prevent parental burnout, promoting family resilience and good family functioning. The objective is to characterize families accompanied by the early intervention service in RAM through the analysis of the relationships between the levels of family resilience, parental burnout and family functioning, studying the role of sociodemographic variables of parents and children accompanied by the service. The sample consists of 127 fathers and mothers of children with special educational needs living on the island of Madeira, aged between 23 and 51 years old, who receive support and monitoring from the regional early childhood intervention service, and were administered the Portuguese version of the Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire-WFRQ, the Parental Burnout Assessment Questionnaire - QAEP translated and adapted from the original Parental Burnout Assessment - PBA and the 15-item version of the Systemic Clinical Outcome Routine Evaluation: SCORE-15 validated for the Portuguese population. The results indicate that families’ present levels considered medium and low in the dimensions of family resilience and parental burnout, and levels considered high and low in the dimensions of family functioning. In this population, weak, moderate and strong correlations with statistical significance were found between the concepts of family resilience, parental exhaustion and family functioning, and weak and moderate correlations with statistical significance were found between the dimensions of the family resilience, parental burnout and family functioning assessment scales and sociodemographic variables of parents and children. The family belief system and parental education level significantly predict family functioning, and statistically significant differences were found between groups in parental sociodemographic variables in the dimensions of family resilience and family functioning. These results reveal important data to better understand the psychological state of families monitored by the early childhood intervention service in the RAM and may be a contribution to possible readjustments of additional interventions. However, more comprehensive studies are recommended in future research.
