Abstract(s)
No presente ensaio analisamos as primeiras adaptações em banda
desenhada publicadas em Portugal, a partir de romances de Jules Verne,
o modo como terão sido concebidas, se (re)contam a história com rigor
e se as imagens transmitem a ideia expressa nas ilustrações originais. Em
meados do séc. XX, a adaptação de obras em BD tinha como objectivo
atrair a atenção de leitores mais jovens, estratégia adoptada pelas
editoras como nova forma de divulgar os romances de Jules Verne.
O primeiro romance publicado pelas duas editoras, a Edinter, do Porto,
e a Porto Editora, foi Voyage au centre de la Terre [Viagem ao centro da
Terra], razão pela qual optamos por esta obra como objecto de estudo
neste ensaio.
n the present essay, we analyze the first comic book adaptations published in Portugal, based on novels by Jules Verne, and studied how they have been conceived, if they (re)tell the story accurately and whether the images convey the idea expressed in their original illustrations. In the mid-20th century, the aim of adapting literary works to comics was to attract the attention of younger readers. Hence, these publishers adopted this strategy as a new way of dissemination Jules Verne’s novels. The first novel to be published by the two Publishers, Edinter from Porto and Porto Editora, was Voyage au centre de la Terre [Journey to the Center of the Earth], which is why we choose this work as the case study of this essay.
