- A case of amnesia after SARS-CoV-2 infectionPublication . Henriques, Virgínia; Vieira, Maria da Paz Saldanha; Gonçalves, Ana Célia; Freitas, Carina; Freitas, CarinaIntroduction: SARS-CoV-2 infection can manifest with neuropsychiatric symptoms since the virus can reach the central nervous system. As for the occurrence of memory disorders in these patients, data are very scarce in the literature. Case Description: We describe the clinical case of a male adolescent who presented amnesia after infection with SARS CoV-2. The amnesia had a peculiar pattern, not described in the literature. The neurological exam and complementary diagnostic exams showed no changes. The most likely diagnosis was Dissociative Amnesia. The patient was medicated with psychotropic drugs, with remission of symptoms. Discussion: Psychiatric disorders have been associated with COVID-19 infection, as well as with the pandemic state itself. It is assumed that the etiology of amnesia could be multifactorial: due to the direct effect of the virus and due to the negative impact associated with the pandemic. With this case report, we question the role of SARS-CoV-2 infection in mental health.
- Senior tourists' well-being, happiness, and satisfaction with life: a systematic literature reviewPublication . Câmara, Ester; Pocinho, Margarida; Jesus, Saúl Neves de; Agapito, Dora; Pocinho, Margarida; Marques Câmara, Ester do CarmoThe perception of well-being through tourism improves the quality of life of tourists, and for senior tourists, this re lationship is even more promising. While the association between tourism and mental health is clear, the processes involved are not always clarified. Thus, this systematic literature review aims to explore and systematise the benefits of senior tourism for well-being, happiness, and satisfaction with life. Following the PRISMA method, the search was undertaken on platforms SCOPUS and Web of Science, using the research terms “senior tourism”, “elderly tourism”, “well-being”, and “life satisfaction”. Articles were included, if published after 2018, peer-reviewed, in English, concern ing an overview of senior well-being and tourism. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample comprised 16 articles. Senior tourists experience higher well-being, happiness, and satisfaction with life when their goals are of high valence, more likely to be achieved, coherent with the activities, and when they feel pleasure asso ciated with achieving those goals. Still, senior tourists’ happiness, life satisfaction and well-being are associated with four central elements: interpersonal relationships; time and resource management; achievement of goals and objec tives; and management of the personal meaning attributed to the experience. Theoretical and empirical implications are further discussed.
- Wellness tourism: a bibliometric analysis approachPublication . Martins, Patrícia; Jesus, Saúl Neves de; Pocinho, Margarida; Pinto, Patrícia; Pocinho, Margarida; PocinhoAn emerging field, wellness tourism can reduce stress levels and foster positive emotions, leading to a healthy balance of body, mind, and spirit and satisfying consumer experiences that enhance personal well-being. As a distinct subcategory of health tourism, it is often erroneously interchanged with medical tourism in the literature. Moreover, up to this point, no comprehensive review has assessed the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on wellness tourism research. A bibliometric review was conducted to fill this gap. Data was collected in June 2023 through the Web of Science (WoS) database. The selection process encompassed articles published from January 2013 to June 2023. A total of 143 relevant peer-reviewed articles published in English-language journals were selected. Data were analyzed through evaluation techniques based on productivity and impact measures and relational techniques via mapping the results through VOSviewer software. Based on these findings, potential directions and suggestions for future research were proposed.
