Abstract(s)
O Ensino Profissional e as escolhas vocacionais merecem especial atenção
do género masculino e 76 do género feminino, e a frequentarem cursos profissionalizantes
(n=70) e cursos científico-humanísticos (n=80). Utilizou-se um questionário
sociodemográfico, a escala de autoconceito de competência e o Self Directed Search (Career
Exploration).

The sample consisted of 150 students aged between 17 and 28 (M=19.21; SD= 2.55), of whom 74 were male and 76 were female, and attended professional courses (n=70) and scientific-humanistic courses (n=80). A sociodemographic questionnaire, the competence self-concept scale and the Self Directed Search (Career Exploration) were used. The results showed differences between the students of the professional courses and those of the scientific-humanistic courses, as a function of the SEL, with the former having a lower SEL. Differences were also observed considering the early academic pathway, with 72% of students from professional courses reporting drop out on their school pathway, as well as with professional education students showing a higher self-concept in troubleshooting. Regarding vocational interests, the students of the professional courses have higher results in the characteristics of the realistic, entrepreneurial and conventional dimensions. The results are discussed considering the importance of interventions, especially multidisciplinary, that support students in the construction of their professional project according to their characteristics and needs.
