Abstract(s)
The present study has for objective to justify the importance of an approach to the collective sport games based in the Competency Model, and to describe the methodology used in an intervention study in groups of the 3rd Cycle using the Competency Model. For such, participated in the study 43 students (22 girls and 21 boys; 13.9±0.67 years of age) belonging to two groups of the 3rd cycle. These groups were intervened according to the Model of Competence in a didactic unit of collective sport games for 20 hours. The preparation of the evaluation team, to evaluate the performance it used the record of observation Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) (Oslin et al. 1998). The results of the preparation of the evaluation team present quite high values of correlation intra-class, varying among 0.791 and 0.993. The success of the implementation of the Model of Competence depends on the execution of a pré-defined protocol on the part of the Teacher. The characteristics that support the Competency Model contain in his genesy important "ingredients" that can combat the main identified problems in the teaching of the games in the classes of Physical Education.
