Abstract(s)
As
neste estudo: Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Évora, Faro, Funchal, Guarda, Leiria, Oeiras, Ponta
Delgada, Viana do Castelo e Vila Real.
impulsionadores culturais e as ambições associadas.
This research work focuses on a comparative study of the strategic plans of the Portuguese Candidacies for the European Capital of Culture 2027. The cities under analysis cover a diversity of cultural and geographical locations, we include in this study: Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Évora, Faro, Funchal, Guarda, Leiria, Oeiras, Ponta Delgada, Viana do Castelo and Vila Real. The central objective of this dissertation is to analyze the interest shown by each city in relation to culture, as well as the degree of importance attributed to it in society and its influence on the community in general. This dissertation seeks to explore the elements that motivated each city to present its candidature for European Capital of Culture, identifying the main cultural drivers and associated ambitions. Furthermore, we intend to examine how these ambitions translate into concrete strategies outlined in the plans for each candidature. The comparative analysis will highlight similarities and differences in the approaches of different cities, revealing how culture is understood as a crucial factor in the development and identity projection of these cities. This research will also explore the ways in which local communities are involved and accept proposed cultural initiatives, providing a comprehensive view of the relationship between culture, community and strategic planning. Through this investigation, we hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of the motivations and strategies behind cities' candidacy for European Capital of Culture and, at the same time, assess the degree of importance that cultural managers should have in the preparation and execution of a cultural plan.
