Abstract(s)
Fino, Macedo, Papert, Toffler, etc.
Logo, a Biblioteca
contemplados no projeto BI.
Reading is a social practice of extreme importance to the development of individuals and to their effective ascension in the social context. The library itineraries have been one of the solutions found to ease the lack of libraries in the schools, and also they encourage us to take knowledge to the community, assuring them information that will allow them to exercise their democratic rights. This research of qualitative character talks about the role that IL (itinerary libraries) carry out in the schools, reactivating the discussion about the importance of reading to the development of citizens, and what contributions the IL brought to the development of competencies and abilities inside a context of innovating educational practices. To accomplish this goal, the school Ministro Marco Maciel, located in the Brejo Velho village, in Paranatama - PE was searched. The gathering of information was done through interviews and observations. To the development of the research, we also used as a basis the most known theoreticals, like: Freire, Jean Piaget, Lapassade, Fino, Macedo, Papert, Toffler, etc. This study showed that the itinerary library was contemplated in the schooling pedagogic project, which contributed to the best educational exploitation. It is a fact that the lack of libraries in the schools makes learning harder. About the relevance of this work to the area of research in reading and the innovating pedagogical practice, we can outline the contribution of the research in locus as a knowledge building process and the breaking of a paradigm. Therefore, the itinerary library proves to be of high importance in the process of developing the competencies and abilities in the students, above all, they are as an empowerment of actions. Organizing, reorganizing, interpreting and analyzing, these competencies are found embedded in the IL project. This research also indicates that the existence of IL in a school is essential for education to be succeeded and to the self-learning in the contemporaneity. As Freire used to state (1996, p75): the trajectory by which we make ourselves conscious is marked by the finitude that characterizes us as historical beings.
