Abstract(s)
Esta investigação teve como objetivo compreender as alterações a nível psicológico e social dos
professores quando se confrontam com o momento-chave que é o tempo da aposentação. Tendo como
sujeitos de investigação os profissionais docentes aposentados, esta investigação qualitativa objetivou
uma melhor compreensão de um acontecimento de vida que surge associado ao início do envelhecimento
– a «passagem à reforma» – tentando determinar quais os impactos desta transição na sua vida. Os
participantes neste estudo foram determinados tendo em consideração o objetivo e a abordagem da
investigação. Assim, a sua seleção foi intencional visto que focalizamos a nossa reflexão naqueles que nos
podiam facultar os elementos que visamos percecionar (Minayo, 1993). Deste modo, o estudo aqui
apresentado desenvolveu-se a partir dos depoimentos de 25 professores portugueses reformados,
residentes na Região Autónoma da Madeira, com idades compreendidas entre os 55 e os 82 anos de
idade, e pertencentes a diferentes níveis de ensino. A partir de entrevistas, estes professores aposentados
relataram os sentimentos e as experiências pessoais vivenciados nessa condição.
This research aimed to understand the changes in the psychological and social levels of teachers when faced with retirement. Retired teaching professionals were the subjects of this qualitative research, which aimed to determine the impact of the “transition to retirement” on their lives. The participants in this study were selected taking into account the research objective and approach. Thus, their selection was intentional since we focused our reflection on those who could provide us with the elements that we wanted to perceive (Minayo, 1993). Twenty-five retired Portuguese teachers, living in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, aged between 55 and 82 years old and belonging to different educational levels participated in this study. From interviews, these retired teachers reported their personal feelings and experiences.
