Abstract(s)
A dissertação contempla, numa fase subsequente,
This dissertation focuses on the study of collecting and curating as essential cultural agents in the contemporary artistic panorama, with a special focus on the analysis of Galeria Lourdes as a case study. Initially, the role of the collector as a cultural agent is examined, highlighting their function of preserving, valuing and democratizing access to their collections. The relevance of curatorship in the selection, organization and interpretation of works is also explored, highlighting its impact on the construction of exhibition narratives and the valorization of artistic heritage. In a subsequent phase, the dissertation contemplates an analysis of the art market, both nationally and internationally, identifying the main dynamics and trends that characterize it. The context of the Autonomous Region of Madeira is also addressed, with emphasis on its main collections and cultural manifestations, promoting a historical and artistic contextualization of the territory under study. The methodological approach adopted is based on qualitative research, supported by documentary research, critical analysis of bibliographic sources and direct observation of the reality of Galeria Lourdes. This methodology allowed an in-depth understanding of the dynamics and challenges inherent to the cultural management of the institution, contributing to the formulation of strategies aimed at its valorization and projection. The objectives achieved include the identification of the main challenges faced by the gallery, the analysis of its potential in the regional context and the presentation of proposals for its dynamization. In this context, the relevance of cultural management, the need to reinforce qualified human resources and the capture of public and private support stand out, elements considered fundamental for the consolidation of Galeria Lourdes as a reference institution in the contemporary artistic panorama.
