dc.description.abstractMuitas vezes o envelhecimento é entendido como um problema. Entendemos que não é, mas uma conquista da humanidade. A vida humana cada vez é mais longa, mas nem sempre é vivida com dignidade. O envelhecimento é um desafio colocado à sociedade, sendo necessário também estudar o envelhecimento do velho. Os autores, a partir do título de um livro de Isabel Allende, inventaram um país, a Utopia, situado à latitude da nossa imaginação e à longitude da nossa fantasia. Nesse país, cada pessoa é uma pessoa sem rótulos. Não há distinções entre ninguém, apenas pessoas humanas. Um país que se orienta pelo Ser e não pelo Ter. É uma utopia, mas utopia não tem de significar o impossível. É um país que ainda não existe, mas que um dia existirá. Este país inventado é uma exigência ética. Como conclusão, é importante realçar o sentido profundo da expressão Vida com Dignidade. Dignidade, porque é um conceito ligado ao Ser. O atual conceito de qualidade de vida está mais ligado ao Ter. Queremos ser lembrados por aquilo que somos e não somente por aquilo que temos.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractAgeing is often perceived as a problem. We understand that it is not, but rather an achievement of humanity. Human life is increasingly longer, but it is not always lived with dignity. Ageing is a challenge posed to society, and it is also necessary to study the ageing of the old. Based on the title of a book by Isabel Allende, the authors came up with a country, Utopia, located at the latitude of our imagination and the longitude of our fantasy. In this country, each person is a being without labels. There are no distinctions between anyone, only human persons. A country that is guided by Being and not by Having. It is a utopia, but utopia does not have to mean the impossible. It is a country that does not exist yet, but one day it will. This made-up country is an ethical requirement. In conclusion, it is important to highlight the profound meaning of the term Life with Dignity. Dignity, because it is a concept linked to Being. The current concept of quality of life is more linked to Having. We want to be remembered for who we are and not just for what we have.pt_PT
