Abstract(s)
The analysis in parallel of the short story “Deutsches Requiem”, by Borges, and of Learning to Pray in the Technological Era, by Tavares, focuses on the nuances of irony as discourse of critical distancing, which not only deconstructs the idolatry of Nazism, but also reflects on the banality of evil after Auschwitz. When deconstructing the readings of Nietzsche, done under an ideological perspective, both texts probe the state of emergency, the concentration camp, following Agamben, and appeal to the ethical duty of memory so as to form a skeptical look in view of the various ideological manipulations of the present.
