Resumo(s)
The theme of Time Management (TM) has been attracting growing attention from contemporary
societies, with several authors having proposed different TM models. To improve TM skills, Training in
Time Management (TTM) is recommended, which allows the development of cognitive skills. In practice,
it translates into thought processes that allow the individual to analyse situations and that can be used
to understand, address issues or problems, on the assumption that individual effectiveness is linked to
organisational effectiveness. An attempt was made to apply a flexible TM model to employees from
various organisations and to assess the assumed evidence of the benefits of this implementation.
Through a quasi-experimental procedure, three TM training courses were delivered, in person and
online, to workers from the Portuguese outermost regions. The programme was developed with a focus
on the three pillars of the flexible TM model proposed by the authors: time perspective, self-recognition,
and TM. Dependent variables were measured before training and two weeks after training. The training
programme lasted for three hours. In general, it was found that statistically significant differences (p <
0.001) were found between the average scores obtained on the scale that assesses TM behaviour at
the two points in time in which the questionnaire was administered. In the 2nd time, after the training
course on TM, the average total scores obtained were higher, so the training provided proved to be
effective, as it led the participants to change some of their behaviours, thus contributing to a better TM
on the part of the trainees.
