consciencialização do corpo.
A maioria
Abstract School life presents various challenges that can trigger high levels of stress and anxiety in students. Academic pressure, the demands for high performance and the quality of interpersonal relationships contribute to an environment that may compromise students' physical and mental well-being. In this context, Physical Education classes play a fundamental role in promoting health, working on motor skills throughout the school year and developing comprehensive skills such as body awareness. The main objective of this study is to ascertain teachers' and students' perceptions of the relevance of relaxation sessions in Physical Education classes. The methodology used in the study involved the application of two questionnaires: one covering a sample of 67 teachers and the other a sample of 372 primary and secondary school students. A quantitative analysis of the results was carried out, and Google Forms was used to collect statistical data and generate graphical representations. The results indicated that 83.6 per cent of teachers reported having already used relaxation sessions in PE classes and, among others, they highlighted the relevant breathing exercises to use in their classes. Most teachers believe that the main benefit students may experience from relaxation sessions is an increase in overall well-being. They agree that there should be more training on the subject, would be interested in taking part in such training and share the final opinion that, with access to training or teaching tools, they would apply relaxation sessions in their classes. Of the students, 271 say they have already carried out breathing exercises, corresponding with what the teachers say they have done most often. They consider the possible benefits to be a reduction in stress and anxiety, as well as a greater sense of well-being. Of the total student sample, 77.7 per cent (289) said they would like relaxation sessions to be included in PE lessons. It can be concluded that both students and teachers perceive benefits in carrying out relaxation sessions. Teachers consider that they would apply relaxation sessions in their classes with the support of ongoing training or teaching tools, and most students would like to have these sessions in their PE classes.
