Abstract(s)
Este estudo procura contribuir para um maior conhecimento das caraterísticas associadas ao
desempenho académico excelente através da caraterização de um grupo de alunos do ensino
superior, que concluiu a licenciatura com média igual/superior a 13,5 valores. Participaram
40 alunos (22 homens e 18 mulheres), com idades entre 21 e 47 anos, de uma universidade
pública portuguesa, de cursos de 3 áreas do conhecimento (Artes e Humanidades; Ciências
da Saúde e Sociais; Ciências Económicas e Tecnologias). Aplicaram-se as Matrizes
Progressivas de Raven, o Inventário de Personalidade NEO PI-R e o Inventário de
Caraterísticas Psicológicas Associadas ao Desempenho Académico. Os resultados revelamse, para os alunos com rendimento académico mais elevado, na generalidade, mais elevados,
em termos de inteligência geral, nos níveis de Conscienciosidade e Abertura à experiência,
e nas dimensões Cognitivo-criativa, Motivação e Estratégias de aprendizagem, Persistência,
Interação Social e Interesse Cultural. Estes dados são discutidos e apontam-se linhas para
estudos futuros.
This study aims to contribute to a better knowledge of the characteristics associated to excellent academic performance through the characterization of a group of higher education students, who completed a degree with an average classification of 13,5 values. A sample of 40 students (22 men and 18 women), aged between 21 and 47 years old, with a degree in one of three areas of knowledge (Arts and Humanities, Health Sciences and Social Sciences, Economics and Technology) completed in a Portuguese public university participated in this study. Raven´s Progressive Matrices, NEO PI-R Personality Inventory and the Inventory of Psychological Characteristics Associated with Academic Performance were applied. The results show, for students with higher academic achievement, generally higher levels of general intelligence, Conscientiousness, Openness to experience, Cognitive-Creative, Motivation and Learning strategies, Persistence, Social Interaction and Cultural Interest. These results are discussed and lines are drawn for future studies.
