O Funchal é membro da Rede Internacional de Cidades Educadoras desde 2014
e, como tal, tem apostado na educação numa vertente não formal e informal, como
ferramenta de transformação social. Neste âmbito, têm sido desenvolvidos programas direcionados a crianças, jovens e adultos, por forma a promover uma educa-
ção integral, inclusiva e ao longo da vida, nas mais diversas áreas, nomeadamente ambiente, património natural e construído, literacia financeira, proteção civil,
igualdade de género, leitura e alimentação saudável, estando estes alinhados com
alguns dos objetivos do desenvolvimento sustentável.
Funchal has been a member of the International Network of Educating Cities since 2014 and, as such, has invested in non-formal and informal education as a tool for social transformation. In this context, programs have been developed for children, young people and adults to promote integral, inclusive and lifelong education in the most diverse areas, including environment, natural and built heritage, financial literacy, civil protection, equality. gender, reading and healthy eating, which are aligned with some of the goals of sustainable development.
