O texto aqui apresentado estabelece uma ligação entre o lugar insular e a urgência de
processos de significação, e propõe que essa ligação pode funcionar como paradigma
a partir do qual podemos pensar sobre alguns dos problemas centrais do campo da
arte contemporânea. Mais especificamente, aborda a necessidade de encontrar mar cadores universais alternativos aos oferecidos pelos sistemas de legitimação da arte,
demasiado fechados na sua maioria, que nos permitam definir linhas de um inquérito
artístico comprometido com a realidade atual e com os seus desafios locais e globais.
Conclui com uma defesa da potencialidade de contextos insulares para a reformulação
do pensamento artístico contemporâneo e do ensino das artes.
The text establishes a connection between islands and the urgency of meaning. It pro poses that such connection can act as a paradigm that we can use to reflect about some of the central questions of contemporary art.
