Esta comunicação pretende apresentar uma reflexão sobre o pensamento críti co e pedagógico de Paulo Freire na construção do ser humano, enquanto cidadão
ativo, consciente e transformador do seu meio. No fim da sua vida, este autor afir mou que “urge que assumamos o dever de lutar pelos princípios éticos mais fun damentais como o respeito à vida dos seres humanos, à vida dos outros animais, à
vida dos pássaros, à vida dos rios e das florestas” (Freire, 2012, p. 28). Seguindo esta
ideia, vários movimentos educativos proporcionaram oportunidades para a redefi nição de formas de viver em comunidade, suportadas pelas dimensões complexas
de ecopedagogias, integradas num contexto de Educação e Cidadania.
This paper intends to present a reflection on the critical and pedagogical thin king of Paulo Freire in the construction of the human being, as an active, conscious and transforming citizen of his environment. At the end of his life, this author sta ted that “[it is] urgent that we fight for more fundamental ethical principles, such as respect for the life of human beings, the life of other animals, of birds, and for the life of rivers and forests” (Freire, 2012, p. 28). Following this idea, several educational movements provided opportunities for redefining ways of living in community, su pported by the complex dimensions of ecopedagogies, integrated in an Education and Citizenship context.
