Abstract(s)
This article analyzes the psychological characteristics of the Scale of Self-handicapping Strategies (EEA; Boruchovitch & Ganda, 2013). Responded to the version adapted to Portugal's Brazilian scale with 19 items, 700 students of higher education of a Portuguese public university, most women (55, 6%) with a mean age of 21 years. The exploratory factorial analysis was conducted using the principal component method with varimax rotation and the best structure found is formed by two factors, which together account for 44% of the total variance of the items. The coefficients of internal consistency, in general, are satisfactory, varying from 0,76 to 0, 84, not suggesting the elimination of any item. It is expected that this instrument will be useful for psychoeducational research and intervention with Higher Education students.
